- 4 dry red chillies (byadgi)
- 1 inch cinnamon
- 2 cloves
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp Urad dal

- 11/2 tsp coriander seeds
- 1 tsp coconut dry / fresh (optional)

- for Bisi bele bhaat -
- 1 cup rice
- 3/4 cup toor dal(split pegion peas)
- 1 small lemon size tamarind ball
- 11/2 tsp Jaggery
- as required Salt
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric pwder
- 1 tbsp ghee for serving
- 1/4 cup carrot
- 1/4 cup onion
- 1/4 cup tomatoes
- 1/4 cup capsicum
- 1/4 cup French beans
- 1/2 cup bottle gourd
- 1 green chilli

- for seasoning:
- 1 tbsp Ghee/ oil
- 1 spring curry leaves
- 7-8 cashews broken
- 1 pinch Asafoetida
- 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 dry red chilli (deseeded)
Steps to make to make Bisi bele bhaat
- On a low flame dry roast red chillies, chana dal, Urad dal until golden. Then add coriander seeds, cloves, cinnamon.when they turn aromatic remove it in plate. Roast methi seeds, add in cumin and coconut roast it and cool it. Make a fine powder mixing all the ingredients and keep it a side.
- Add rice in a bowl and rinse few times with water. Rinse dal few times soak in water separate.
- Chopped all the veggies finely, soak tamarind in water.
- In pressure cooker add toor dal pinch of Asafoetida, turmeric and few drops of oil. Pressure cook it for 2 whistles,do not whisk it.
- Heat oil in cooker,add mustard seeds, Asafoetida and curry leaves,then add cashews and dry red chilli in it fry it. Add all the veggies and stir it well, add 11/2 t spn of masala we made. Add tamarind pulp, salt cook it till veggies become little softer.
- Add boiled toor dal and 2-3 cups of water or water as required (Bisi bele bhaat is served in running Conistantancy) when it started boiling add soaked rice and Jaggery in it and pressure cook it for 2 whistles again.
- Serve it hot with adding ghee in it and chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.
